A Connecticut resident has filed a lawsuit against a Wisconsin-based company, alleging that a defective pressure cooker caused severe injuries. On February 13, 2026, Rosa Calle Dominguez submitted her complaint in the United States District Court for the Western District of Wisconsin against Hy Cite Enterprises, LLC. The lawsuit centers around a Royal Prestige pressure cooker that allegedly malfunctioned, resulting in significant burn injuries to Dominguez.
According to the complaint, on March 26, 2023, Dominguez was using the pressure cooker when its lid unexpectedly detached from the pot during normal use. This sudden ejection allowed scalding hot contents to spill onto her, causing serious burns. The plaintiff claims that the pressure cooker was defectively designed and failed to prevent the lid from being opened while still pressurized. Despite this risk, Hy Cite Enterprises continued selling these cookers without adequate warnings or recalls.
The complaint further alleges that Hy Cite was aware or should have been aware of these defects but prioritized profit over consumer safety. As a result of using what she describes as an unreasonably dangerous product, Dominguez suffered not only physical injuries but also incurred medical expenses and experienced mental anguish and diminished enjoyment of life.
Dominguez’s legal team argues that there were safer alternative designs available that could have prevented such incidents. They assert that Hy Cite’s failure to adopt these alternatives constitutes negligence and breach of implied warranty of merchantability. The lawsuit accuses Hy Cite of failing to adequately test their products and warns consumers about potential dangers despite marketing them as safe with multiple security mechanisms.
In seeking justice through this legal action, Dominguez demands a jury trial and seeks compensation for her injuries and suffering. She requests general and special damages to cover economic losses like medical expenses as well as non-economic damages for pain and suffering. Additionally, she asks for prejudgment interest and any other relief deemed equitable by the court.
Represented by attorney Adam J. Kress from Johnson Becker PLLC in St. Paul, Minnesota, Rosa Calle Dominguez aims to hold Hy Cite Enterprises accountable for their alleged negligence in designing and distributing a hazardous product. The case is presided over by judges at the United States District Court for the Western District of Wisconsin under Case ID 3:26-cv-00111.
