The U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Western District of Wisconsin announced on Mar. 10 that the Chapter 13 Mortgage Modification Mediation Program was dissolved in November 2025 and is no longer active.

The announcement affects parties involved in Chapter 13 bankruptcy cases who may have previously relied on the program to mediate mortgage modifications. The court confirmed that it does not currently administer a formal mortgage modification mediation program, and there is no replacement at this time.

Parties interested in pursuing mediation related to a Chapter 13 case are advised to file an appropriate motion or request directly on the case docket. The court said that questions regarding mediation requests can be directed to the Clerk’s Office.

This change means individuals seeking mortgage modification through bankruptcy proceedings will need to use alternative methods for mediation, as there is no formal process provided by the court at present.

The court has not indicated if or when a new program might be established.
