Nicholas J. Fisher, a 41-year-old resident of Eau Claire, Wisconsin, was sentenced on Mar. 17 to ten years in federal prison for possessing over 500 grams of methamphetamine with the intent to distribute, according to an announcement by Chadwick M. Elgersma, United States Attorney for the Western District of Wisconsin. Chief U.S. District Judge James D. Peterson also ordered that Fisher serve five years of supervised release following his prison term.
The case highlights ongoing efforts by law enforcement and federal prosecutors to address drug distribution offenses in the region.
Fisher pleaded guilty to the charge on December 19, 2025. He was arrested on May 3, 2025, after law enforcement officers executed a probation warrant and searched his vehicle, where they found approximately 1,322 grams of methamphetamine along with paraphernalia associated with drug dealing.
During sentencing, Judge Peterson noted Fisher’s long history of criminal conduct but also acknowledged that his actions were largely driven by addiction and did not involve violence.
The investigation was conducted by the Eau Claire Police Department with assistance from the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration. Assistant U.S. Attorney Megan Stelljes prosecuted the case.
This prosecution is part of Operation Take Back America, a nationwide initiative led by the U.S. Department of Justice aimed at combating illegal immigration and eliminating cartels and transnational criminal organizations through coordinated efforts involving Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Forces and Project Safe Neighborhood.
