A federal grand jury has indicted Martin M. Muniz-Lara, 43, of Greenville, Wisconsin, on charges related to an armed bank robbery in Bear Creek, Outagamie County. The announcement was made by Brad D. Schimel, United States Attorney for the Eastern District of Wisconsin.
The indictment includes two counts. The first count accuses Muniz-Lara of armed bank robbery under 18 U.S.C. §§ 2113(a) and 2113(d). If found guilty, he could face up to 25 years in prison. The second count charges him with brandishing a firearm during and in relation to a crime of violence under 18 U.S.C. § 924(c), which carries a potential life sentence and a mandatory minimum of seven years that must be served consecutively to any other sentence imposed. Additional penalties could include fines, a special assessment, and supervised release after imprisonment.
According to the indictment, Muniz-Lara allegedly took money by force from a federally insured bank in Bear Creek on or about October 17, 2025, while brandishing a firearm during the act.
The investigation was led by the Outagamie County Sheriff’s Office with assistance from the FBI, Oshkosh Police Department, and Outagamie County District Attorney’s Office. Assistant United States Attorney Andrew J. Maier will prosecute the case in federal court in Green Bay.
Brad D. Schimel stated: “An indictment is only a charge and not evidence of guilt. The defendant is presumed innocent and is entitled to a fair trial at which the government must prove his guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.”
