United States Bankruptcy Judge G. Michael Halfenger of the Eastern District of Wisconsin has applied for reappointment by the United States Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit, according to a March 27 notice. His current term is set to expire on January 10, 2027, and he is seeking a new 14-year term.

The process invites public participation as comments are being solicited from both members of the bar and the general public regarding Judge Halfenger’s potential reappointment. All comments will remain confidential and must be submitted in writing by May 11, 2026.

A United States Bankruptcy Judge serves as a judicial officer within the United States District Court system, exercising authority over actions, suits, or proceedings under Chapter 6 of Title 28 of the United States Code (28 U.S.C. §151).
