A lawsuit has been filed in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Wisconsin by K.W., a minor, through her guardian D.W., against Lad Lake, Inc. The complaint alleges that Lad Lake, a nonprofit organization responsible for K.W.’s care during her court-ordered residential treatment, was deliberately indifferent to her mental health needs and negligently allowed her to escape multiple times. These escapes led to K.W. being drugged and sexually assaulted on several occasions. The lawsuit seeks compensation for K.W.’s injuries, punitive damages, and other relief.
