Madison man indicted by federal grand jury for child pornography offenses

A federal grand jury in Madison, Wisconsin has indicted Robert Gilkey-Meisegeier, 30, of Madison on charges related to child pornography. According to Chadwick M. Elgersma, Acting United States Attorney for the Western District of Wisconsin, Gilkey-Meisegeier is accused of producing, attempting to produce, and possessing child pornography.

The indictment alleges that Gilkey-Meisegeier produced and attempted to produce images of child pornography on May 16, 2025. It also states that he possessed such images on June 1, 2025.

If convicted on either production-related charge, Gilkey-Meisegeier faces a mandatory minimum sentence of 15 years in prison and could receive up to 30 years. The possession charge carries a maximum penalty of 10 years.

The investigation was conducted by the Sun Prairie Police Department with support from the University of Wisconsin Police Department, the Wisconsin Department of Justice Division of Criminal Investigation, and the Federal Bureau of Investigation. Assistant U.S. Attorney Julie Pfluger is prosecuting the case.

The case is part of Project Safe Childhood (PSC), a national initiative designed to combat child sexual exploitation and abuse by coordinating efforts among federal, state, and local agencies. More information about Project Safe Childhood can be found at www.justice.gov/psc.
