A federal grand jury has indicted Zachariah R. Breihof, 27, of Manitowoc, Wisconsin, on charges related to the transportation of child pornography. The indictment was announced by Brad D. Schimel, United States Attorney for the Eastern District of Wisconsin.

According to the indictment, in January 2025 Breihof “did knowingly transport and ship in interstate commerce … a visual depiction of a minor engaged in sexually explicit conduct.” If convicted, he faces a mandatory minimum sentence of five years in prison and up to twenty years, along with a maximum fine of $250,000. He would also be subject to supervised release ranging from five years to life.

The City of Manitowoc Police Department investigated the case. Assistant United States Attorney Daniel R. Humble is prosecuting.

Authorities emphasize that an indictment is only a charge and does not constitute evidence of guilt. “The defendant is presumed innocent and is entitled to a fair trial at which the government must prove his guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.”

This prosecution falls under Project Safe Childhood, an initiative launched by the U.S. Department of Justice in May 2006 aimed at combating child sexual exploitation and abuse through coordinated efforts among federal, state, and local agencies.
