Megan Humitz, a former City Clerk for the City of Glendale, has filed a lawsuit against her previous employer, alleging violations of the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA). The complaint, filed in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Wisconsin, claims that Glendale interfered with Humitz’s right to take FMLA leave and retaliated against her by terminating her employment after she exercised these rights. Humitz asserts that despite being on FMLA leave due to a serious health condition, she was compelled to work remotely without proper job coverage arrangements. Furthermore, following an investigation into her use of a city credit card, Glendale allegedly threatened legal action unless she resigned. When she refused, they terminated her employment and reported her to the police. Humitz seeks damages for lost wages and benefits as well as equitable relief.
