Timothy M. O’Shea, the United States Attorney for the Western District of Wisconsin, announced that Xa Xiong from St. Paul, Minnesota, was sentenced to 10 years in federal prison for methamphetamine distribution. U.S. District Judge William M. Conley imposed the sentence, which includes five years of supervised release following imprisonment. Xiong had pleaded guilty on February 21, 2025.
The case began in July 2024 when investigators received a tip about a large quantity of methamphetamine stored in a storage unit in Eau Claire. A search warrant led to the discovery of approximately six pounds of methamphetamine linked to Xiong. On July 26, 2024, Xiong sold about one pound of methamphetamine to an undercover officer in Menomonie, Wisconsin. He was arrested a week later while attempting to sell two more pounds to the same officer.
During sentencing, Judge Conley highlighted concerns over the volume of drugs involved and noted it exceeded what would be necessary for personal use.
The investigation into Xiong’s activities was carried out by multiple agencies including the West Central Drug Task Force and the Eau Claire Police Department. The ATF Madison Crime Gun Task Force also contributed to the case efforts alongside other local and federal law enforcement entities throughout Western Wisconsin. Assistant U.S. Attorney William Levins prosecuted this case.
