The United States Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit announced on Mar. 27 that United States Bankruptcy Judge G. Michael Halfenger of the Eastern District of Wisconsin has applied for reappointment to a new 14-year term when his current term expires on January 10, 2027.
The announcement invites public and bar member input regarding whether Judge Halfenger should be reappointed. The process allows community members to provide confidential feedback, which is part of the judiciary’s efforts to maintain transparency and accountability in judicial appointments.
Judge Halfenger serves as a judicial officer of the United States District Court and exercises authority over actions, suits, or proceedings under Chapter 6 of Title 28 of the United States Code (28 U.S.C. § 151). His role involves overseeing bankruptcy cases within his jurisdiction.
