Kordarow Moore, 36, of Sun Prairie, Wisconsin, has been sentenced to a total of 39 months in federal prison for illegally possessing a firearm as a felon and for violating the terms of his federal supervision related to a previous drug trafficking conviction. The sentencing took place on December 1, 2025, before U.S. District Judge William M. Conley.
Moore pleaded guilty to the charge of being a felon in possession of a firearm on September 12, 2025. The case stems from an incident on September 22, 2024, when law enforcement stopped Moore’s vehicle for speeding at 101 miles per hour on Interstate 94 in Jefferson County—over 30 miles per hour above the legal limit. After arresting Moore for operating while intoxicated, officers searched his car and found a loaded AK-47 style rifle with an extended magazine containing about 40 rounds and one round chambered under the front passenger seat.
At sentencing, Judge Conley commented: “The type of firearm possessed by Moore posed a deadly threat to others and went far beyond a need for personal protection.” He further stated: “It was inexplicable that Moore would possess a firearm, let alone this type of firearm, while under the Court’s supervision for another federal offense and while intoxicated.”
The investigation was conducted by the Wisconsin State Patrol, Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office, and the ATF Madison Crime Gun Task Force. This task force includes federal agents from ATF as well as officers from state and local agencies across the Western District of Wisconsin. Assistant U.S. Attorneys David J. Reinhard and Kathryn Ginsberg Ostrow prosecuted the case.
This prosecution is part of Operation Take Back America—a nationwide initiative led by the U.S. Department of Justice that focuses resources on combating illegal immigration, dismantling cartels and transnational criminal organizations (TCOs), and addressing violent crime through programs such as Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Forces (OCDETFs) and Project Safe Neighborhood (PSN).
