Public access to court proceedings conducted by telephone or video conference in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Wisconsin can be arranged by contacting the clerk’s office at (608) 264-5156 at least one hour before the scheduled start time.

The court has reminded those granted remote access that there is a general prohibition against photographing, recording, or rebroadcasting federal court proceedings, including those held via telephone or video conference. The statement from the court reads: “Recording of a federal court proceeding is strictly prohibited. See Federal Court: Media Basics – Journalist’s Guide.”

Members of the press and public who participate remotely are also expected to mute their devices during hearings and avoid any disruption. The court warns that violations of these rules may lead to denial of entry to future hearings or other sanctions as deemed necessary.
